Wingham Surgery Information & current opening times

The Aylesham  Medical Practice have updated the Wingham Surgery website with relevant information on current opening times.  The website address is Winghamsurgery.co.uk

The Practice have provided the following additional information to Wingham Parish Council:-

“We would like to reassure patients that they do not intend to close Wingham surgery on a permanent basis.  However due to the shortage of GPs we have had to change the opening hours. We currently only have 1 GP available between both Aylesham and Wingham on a Monday and Wednesday, during the last 3 months we covered these days with a Locum but we have been unable to get cover for these for the coming months. The locum GP that we had been using for cover is now unavailable and despite contacting locum agencies and local locum GPs we have been unable to find anyone to cover. It is unfair to the patients to have it open one day then closed the following week if we cannot get cover,  we have therefore made the decision to close on these 2 days for the foreseeable future. All services will be available at Aylesham Medical Practice and any patients requiring home visits will be accommodated from Aylesham. We understand that this is not ideal but I am afraid we have no alternative at the present time.

The new opening times are now as follows:

  • Monday: Closed. Services available at Aylesham Medical Practice
  • Tuesday: 8.00am-6.00pm
  • Wednesday: Closed. Services available at Aylesham Medical Practice
  • Thursday: 8.00am-2.00pm
  • Friday: 8.00am-6.00pm

The morning appointments will be bookable on the day while the afternoon appointments will have a selection of pre-bookable and book on the day as usual.

During the month of August we held appointments in the mornings instead of the usual walk-in clinic, we carried out a survey during this time asking patients which service they preferred. The results of this indicated that the patients would prefer to have appointments rather than the walk-in clinic. We have therefore decided that we will change the service from Monday 17th September this will also help ease some of the pressure during the mornings.

The opening times are also displayed at the surgery and we have been handing out information to patients when they collect prescriptions etc.”
